A: It’s Easter Sunday in two weeks and I’d really like to make potica for this special occasion. Tim says I shouldn’t bother since little Lisa won’t eat it because of the strict non-lactose and egg diet she has to follow.
M: You could try and make it without those ingredients.
A: But how can you make potica without eggs, butter, and milk? How is it going to taste?
M: You can use substitutes like rice milk, coconut butter, and bananas.
A: Do you really think I could make something similar to potica with these eats?
M: Sure, why not. It’s the effort and good intention that counts, not so much the traditional taste.
A: Maybe you’re right. How much of these and other ingredients should I buy? Wait, I’ll write them down.
M: Well, for the dough you’ll need a little yeast, some rice milk, sugar, quite a lot of flour, and a few bananas.
A: OK. What about the filling?
M: Don’t save on the filling. Get plenty of fine ground walnuts, much coconut butter and some honey. You probably have cinnamon and vanilla at home, so there’s no need to put these on the shopping list.
A: I’ll write it anyway, a diligent housewife should never run out of these aromatic spices. At least that’s what you taught me.
M: Haha, that’s my girl!

A: First, I prepared yeast in a usual way then I scalded rice milk, cooled till lukewarm, and added coconut butter. I sifted flour, cut 2 bananas, and poured in the rice milk mixture, and prepared yeast. I beat everything with an electric mixer until the dough was non-sticking.
M: What about the filling?
A: I followed your old potica recipe, but I replaced milk and butter with rice milk, and coconut butter.
M: Honestly, it’s mouthwatering. And as I can see, Lisa likes it, too.
A: Yup, she has already eaten two slices.
